All 10th ICAM publications shall be digitally accessible, color printable and fully searchable. Publications will include eg. peer-reviewed congress proceedings, extended abstracts and posters (further details below), congress program, technical visit guide.
Workshop course notes and/or excursion guides will be available to respective participants.
A digital copy of the 10th ICAM proceedings and a printed Program & Extended Abstracts booklet will be included in the registration fee. Printed hardcopies of the proceedings shall be available for pre-order through this website.
Guided poster sessions
The 10th ICAM will see a revival of the successful “guided poster sessions” from the ICAM 2004 in Brazil. These shall be held in the early evening hours after the technical sessions, with posters arranged per session. Thus, delegates have the opportunity to reassess a session, or to scrutinize parallel sessions initially not attended.
Nota bene: posters are intended as a means of enhanced communication among all delegates, and explicitly NOT as a sort of ‘second-rank publication’. All authors are to submit a poster in addition to the full manuscript, extended abstract and oral presentation. Posters will be included in the digital version of the ICAM Proceedings, and may very well contain additional data to the manuscript.
All posters will be outlined in 1-minute presentations, after which delegates will have time for discussion in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Beverages, light-alcoholic drinks and light snacks will be available for purchase.
Submission and peer-review process
All contributions submitted to the 10th ICAM are all subject to a journal-style peer-review process, to warrant a consistent and high quality. Go to www.icam2011.org/submission.html to submit your contributions. Further instructions will be given onscreen.
During the congress, a separate daytime activity program will be organized for a small additional fee. This may include a morning jog, a guided city sightseeing tour, a visit to a local museum, etc. Further details will be presented in the second circular.

The ICAM-council website defines ‘applied mineralogy’ as:
“Applied mineralogy covers the complete spectrum of mineralogical activity in 1) the exploration for, and exploitation of, base metals, precious metals, base minerals, industrial minerals, building and construction materials, and carbonaceous materials, in mining, extractive metallurgy, and economic geology, as well as in
2) the investigation and development of refractories, ceramics, cements, alloys and other industrial materials, including ancient material, and
3) the study and protection of the environment.”
The same website furthermore defines the goals of ICAM-congresses as:
- ICAM should provide an interdisciplinary forum for specialists in the fields of mineralogy, chemistry, mineral exploration, engineering, environment, ceramics, metallurgy, archaeometry and medicine.
- ICAM is to recruit industrial participation, to highlight their current research needs, and to promote contacts to specialists in all fields of applied mineralogy.
